reasons people see an osteopath

Hersham Osteopathy clinic regularly treats patients of all ages (newborn to the very elderly) and from all walks of life and professions.   You are never too young, too pregnant or too old to see an osteopath.

Osteopaths treat people not conditions.  There are many different reasons why we feel pain.  Sometimes the pain can be attributed to a specific cause or event, often the pain appears for no reason and can often be traced back to an injury that occured some time ago.  We believe that osteopathic treatment should aim to release the accumulated tensions and strains that block the body’s path to wellness, allowing good health to flourish again.

Most people come to see Osteopaths because they are in physical pain.  Headaches, backache, neck pain and sports injuries are some of the more common complaints we treat, however osteopaths treat patients with a variety of health conditions.  In our experience, there is always something an osteopath can do to amke you more comfortable.

Some of the symptoms we are commonly asked to evaluate are:

  • Joint pain
  • Sciatica
  • Restricted Mobility
  • Poor posture
  • Neuralgia
  • Stress related problems
  • Sports injuries
  • Pregnancy related problems
  • Paediatric conditions such as colic, torticollis, reflux and irritability
  • Jaw pain
  • Migraines
  • Digestive problems
  • Menstrual problems

Structural osteopathic treatment is gentle and harmonic, including joint articulations, soft tissue massage and joint manipulations where necessary.  Cranial osteopathic techniques are often used in conjuction with structural osteopathic techniques to help the body unwind and resolve poor postural and movement patterns.  The osteopath will always discuss your treatment plan with you.  Gentle osteopathic techniques are quite safe for all age groups.
