Gillian Longridge B.Ost (hons) – Principal Osteopath

Gillian treating 1Gillian is the owner of Hersham Osteopathy.  She is a fully registered Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council.  Gillian has extensive post-graduate training in Cranial Osteopathy and Paediatric Osteopathy and is a member of the Rollin Becker Institute of Cranial Osteopaths and the Institute of Osteopathy.  She completed a 5 year degree in Osteopathic Medicine at the prestigious University College of Osteopathy (formerly the  British School of Osteopathy), obtaining a 2:1 honours degree.  After graduating, Gillian further honed her osteopathic skills by working alongside world renowned osteopaths in the England, Copenhagen and Melbourne (Australia).  Gillian has a keen interest in paediatrics and specialises in treating babies, children, pregnant and post-partem mums.  She spent a year working and studying Paediatric Osteopathy at the respected Osteopathic Centre for Children.

Gillian has also completed 3 phases of the postgraduate Biodynamic Osteopathy academic pathway.  Biodynamic Osteopathy is a very gentle form of advanced Cranial Osteopathy which encourages stress relief and encourages the patients body to resolve old , chronic patterns of dysfunction.  Biodynamic, or Traditional Osteopathy was developed by James Jealous DO in the USA.

Growing up in Australia, Gillian was a keen competitive swimmer and semi-professional ballet dancer and is familiar with treatment and management of sporting injuries.  She offers both cranial and structural Osteopathy for adults, children and babies.  She also provides Osteopathic treatment for couples planning to start a family, as well as Osteopathic pregnancy care and post-natal rehabilitation.

An Osteopath is a manual therapist. We use our clinical knowledge together with our highly skilled sense of touch to diagnose and treat patients. The Title “Osteopath” is protected by law. Osteopaths earn the privilege to use the title through completeing a 4 year full time medical-based degree with extensive training in anatomy, physiology, clinical diagnosis and treatment modalities.

Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners with a statutory regulating body – the General Osteopathic Council (GOSC). All practising Osteopaths using the title “Osteopath” must be registered with the GOSC.

Julia Young, BANT Registered Nutritionist

Julia Young is a BANT Registered Nutritional Therapist, offering personalised one-to-one nutrition and lifestyle support. Julia has always had a passionate interest in health and nutrition. In 2011, following a 10 year career working for Guardian News and Media, she qualified with distinction as a Diet and Nutrition Advisor. She then went on to train intensively for 3 years as a Nutritional Therapist at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition. Julia works with clients with various health issues, and has a particular interest in supporting women’s health and hormones.
